From an early age, I wanted to write a book. Like most people, I put the dream on hold and got a job that paid the bills. It just didn’t make sense to pursue a passion. Or, so I thought.

Well, we aren’t getting any younger, are we? I took the plunge in 2013. Writing Through the Mist: Restoration took three years, but I did it! Little did I know, I picked a difficult way to do it. I created a series that required more books!

I enjoy researching all the fascinating elements of the Through the Mist series, most of which require hours of reading and result in only one sentence! Writing is therapeutic for me so I don’t mind all of the research involved.

When I started the Through the Mist series, I wanted to portray the whole time travel-romance genre in a different way. The heroines in some time travel novels seem unperturbed by the lack of modern conveniences, had no problem with being in a different time, and/or happily awaited rescue from a dashing Highlander.

Not to be overly feminist here, but come on! The heroines in my series are the total opposite. In fact, in the first book, the heroine saves herself in the inevitable confrontation with the bad guy. If that sort of thing appeals to you, you will love the series.

That same desire to show a different perspective led me to write Love at the Woolly Bookworm Shop. Most people would look at the central character, Peg Alexander, and think she is well past her prime. Any notions of finding love should have been abandoned long ago, along with any thought of fitting into size 0 jeans! As often happens in real life, things sometimes turn out differently than we ever expected.

Ain’t that the truth! If you follow me on Facebook or read my blog, you know my employment status took a dramatic turn. I spend time now focusing on writing and…let’s be honest…figuring how to stretch every penny.

I have lived and worked in Western North Carolina for many years. When I am not writing, I enjoy spending time with my little dogs and cooking them homemade treats. I am very fond of reading about history.

Thank you for joining me on the journey Through the Mist and beyond.
